June 18, 2024 – MSHA will hold a series of stakeholder meetings across the country to share information about the final rule MSHA issued on April 18, 2024. The final rule, entitled Lowering Miners’ Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica and Improving Respiratory Protection, is to reduce miner exposures to respirable crystalline silica and improve respiratory protection for all airborne hazards. The first two meetings are scheduled for Arlington, Va., on July 10, and Beckley, W.Va., on July 17, and will be in-person and hybrid events. Both meetings will commence at 1:00 p.m. in local time. Additional stakeholder meetings will be held in Denver, Phoenix, Dallas , Chicago, Birmingham, Ala., and Albany, N.Y., in August and September. MSHA also expects to hold its District meetings following these meetings. Logistics for these meetings will be shared with all stakeholders at a later date.
